City of Independence seeking applicants for 2026 FIFA World Cup Advisory Committee

Can you kick it? The City of Independence is looking for people to join to the Independence FIFA World Cup Advisory Committee!

The City is looking for 14 people from the community, both residents and non-residents, who are passionate about making Independence a must-see destination for those visiting the Kansas City metro in 2026 for the FIFA World Cup.

Each Councilmember will also nominate two people to join the committee.

The committee will consist of 21 total members who will come from every area of our community, including representatives from the City, the Independence Chamber of Commerce, the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum and members of the local hospitality industry.

The Kansas City metro will host six total FIFA World Cup matches in June of 2026 -- four in the group stage, one in the round of 32 and one quarterfinal.
